Festival of Lights
NOVEMBER 2017 LIFESTYLE
Celebrating Thailand’s unique Loy Krathong festival along the River of Kings.
Celebrated every year on the full moon of the twelfth lunar month, Loy Krathong is Thailand’s most visually spectacular festival. It has become known worldwide for the ritual release of delicately decorated flower floats for good fortune and the launch of glowing paper lanterns, a celebration of love and gratitude to the Goddess of Water.
The Chao Phraya River has long been the location of choice for those looking to release a krathong, not only for the visual spectacle, but also for many activities that adorn the river that evening. In early November, Country Group Development invited a small group of guests interested in experiencing a unique waterfront lifestyle, to mark the full moon at Four Seasons Private Residences, where guests enjoyed a front row view of the majestic river from the waterfront promenade.
This year was made even more special, as the people of Thailand lit their candles in remembrance of their beloved king, HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Guests joined the local Thai community in paying tribute to their beloved patriarch and experienced a magical voyage back into ancient Thai culture on the majestic Chao Phraya River.
Attendees at the intimate gathering also enjoyed a series of cultural performances with more contemporary entertainment from popular Thai band, ETC, as well as DJ Mikey Mike.
