Scheduled to open in the last quarter of 2018 within the Chao Phraya Estate, the ultra-luxury boutique urban resort was designed to complement its prime waterfront location while offering the exceptional decor, service and experiences that Capella Hotels and Resorts has become renowned for. The hotel’s recently appointed General Manager, John Blanco, has built an impressive track record over the last 25 years with his single-minded pursuit of luxury hospitality, having worked with brands as Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons and many award-winning independent luxury hotels.

His global perspective uniquely positions him to curate memorable experiences for Capella Bangkok’s clientele. The Venezuelan born American offers some insights into this captivating new property.

Could you please tell us about Capella Hotel Group?
“Our business model has always been to provide highly individualized service to discerning top-tier travellers; we focus on delivering tailored experiences and service excellence at each and every hotel, spa and residence we manage”. “Currently, the brand has properties in Düsseldorf, Shanghai and Singapore, as well as hotels planned for Ubud, Bali, Sanya, the Maldives and Sydney with plans to expand in new and iconic destinations. Our highly anticipated opening at Chao Phraya Estate this year will mark the first Capella property in Thailand”.

What type of accommodation can we expect to experience at Capella Bangkok?
“Capella Hotels are known for design and architecture that reflect the cultural vernacular of each location. With Capella Bangkok situated directly on the waterfront of the Chao Phraya river, designs are inspired by the vibrancy and cultural significance of the river, giving the property its unique charm and character”.

“The hotel itself is comprised of only 101 suites and villas, all offering unobstructed panoramic views of the river. In fact, no other hotel boasts true riverfront villas, making Capella Bangkok one of the most unique places to stay in the city”.

Tell us about the exciting F&B plans for the upcoming Capella Bangkok
“We recently announced that our property will be home to an outpost of celebrated culinary icon Chef Mauro Colagreco, who’s restaurant Mirazur in the South of France has been awarded 2 Michelin stars and is ranked 4th in San Pellegrino’s “World’s 50 Best Restaurants”.

“In addition, a riverfront restaurant will showcase a wide variety of impeccably executed, authentic Thai recipes. A river facing piano bar will complement the F&B offering with jewel-like patisserie creations and spirited concoctions to both kick off and cap off an evening”.

What other leisure facilities can we expect to see on the site?
“We have an inviting infinity pool and deck surrounded by lush tropical landscaping from which to watch the river life go by. In addition, a 9,000-square-foot Auriga Wellness Retreat promises rejuvenating, restorative or simply relaxing programs for body and soul. Last but not least, a stunning 7,500-square-foot grand ballroom with panoramic views of the Chao Phraya River will be THE place for Bangkok’s crème de la crème to host milestone events”.

What are you most excited about on the reveal of Capella Bangkok?
“The amazing team of Capella service artisans eager to craft unforgettable memories for our guests and establish a new benchmark in Thai hospitality on the banks of this River of Kings”.
