Reaching for the Stars
DECEMBER 2017 LIFESTYLE
Capella Bangkok reveals collaboration with 2-star Michelin Chef Mauro Colagreco.
Soon to offer an all-inclusive 5-star hospitality experience with a leisure-focused lifestyle and grand designs; filled with a collection of world-class F&B offerings makes Chao Phraya Estate a one-of-a-kind luxury urban resort destination.
With the estate’s food and beverage program to highlight the crème of the world’s culinary arts, the disclosure of celebrity and Michelin starred Chefs has been widely anticipated news by Private Residences owners as well as the world’s-finest international F&B community.
Country Group Development is proud to officially announce that acclaimed two-Michelin star, award-winning Chef Mauro Colagreco will helm the kitchen at his signature restaurant at the luxury hotel, Capella Bangkok.
A chef with a story unlikely of his locale, Chef Mauro was born in Argentina of Italian and Spanish descent. He set-off to the world’s leading culinary destination in France soon after he qualified in his chosen profession, where he would later spend 14 years perfecting his craft with a succession of Michelin-starred masters; the first of which was Bernard Loiseau, honoured proponent of nouvelle cuisine. He then joined Alain Passard at l’Arpège in Paris and later worked with Alain Ducasse at the Hotel Plaza Athénée and Le Grand Véfour.
In 2006, Chef Mauro established his restaurant Mirazur in Menton, on the blue sky coast of Southern France in Côte d’Azur, located with 360º visage of the Mediterranean, where he was swiftly awarded the ‘Revelation of the Year’ award by the Gault & Millau – an influential French restaurant guide merely 6 months after it opened. The same prestigious culinary guide crowned Chef Mauro the first non-Frenchman to be named ‘Chef of the Year’. After attaining a position as the world’s up and coming Chef, Mauro Colagreco won his first Michelin star, and later awarded his well-earned second star in 2012.
Meanwhile, his highly successful restaurant, Mirazur officially entered the ranks of the best restaurants in the world after being listed on the S. Pellegrino list of the ‘World’s 50 Best Restaurants’, where it recently took the No.4 spot in 2017. Such is the influence of the ‘50 Best’ that once a restaurant reaches the upper echelons of the list, its sparse reservations become exceedingly difficult to come by.
Having Chef Mauro Colagreco’s exquisite skills and wild imagination lead the kitchen at Capella Bangkok’s newest culinary concept has been quickly recognised amongst the finest hospitality brands, restaurateurs and food critics of the world. This award will maintain the standards of world-class cuisine at the luxury all-suite hotel; from the selection of ingredients, honed techniques to the restaurant’s exterior and surroundings; inhabiting a sense of place most chefs claim to have but never realise.
Chef Mauro is a perfect match for the trailblasing brand as he follows his intuition using ingredients to create culinary masterpieces that are as much an expression of freedom as they are a product of his pedigree and professional experience.
